Pittsburgh police hats

Here's a good look at the Pittsburgh Police hats the Pirates wore today during their home opener to honor three Pittsburgh police officers who were recently killed in the line of duty.

The team is also wearing PBP on their sleeves - Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

The Pirates played Houston, and I have to point out that I absolutely LOVE this uniform.

  1. Just out of curiosity, why do you love Houston's uni? Though I do like the Texas on the sleeve

  2. I'm a big fan of that color. What I really like is the burnt orange of Univ. of Texas. The Astros is more of a burnt sienna, I guess. I'm not good with color names beyond red, blue, etc.

On the other hand, see the little kid's jersey in the picture above that? HATE it, in part because it's such a change from the Pirates black and gold color scheme.

Somewhere, my wife is laughing at me.

  3. I was talking about that the other day. Should all pro sports teams in a city have the same color scheme? The Pittsburgh Penguions changes to black and gold in the early 80s I believe, and now match the Steelers and Pirates. But the L.A. Kings went from purple and gold (like the Lakers) to black and silver.

    What do you think?

  4. I don't think a uniform color scheme should be mandatory, but it is kinda cool when it happens.

I also like cities with themes. Chicago: Bears & Cubs. (Or you could say Bears & Bulls.) Miami: Marlins and Dolphins. Kansas City: Kings (once upon a time) and Royals. NY: Mets, Nets, Jets and didn't they have a tennis team called the Sets?
