Phillies Kalas tribute

Here is the patch the Phillies will wear for the rest of the season in tribute to Harry Kalas.

I'm disappointed. I thought the Phils could've done much better for someone as beloved as Harry and a Hall of Famer. Maybe a logo with a microphone?  How about "Outta here" embroidered on the sleeve?  Granted, a stunned and shaken franchise had to whip this up almost overnight, but this just seemed like the default move.

I will say this, the Phils are doing a great job remembering Harry off the field. Comcast Sportsnet has added an 'HK' to its scoreboard. Comcast will also show Friday night's game with no announcers for the first inning.

The Phils have also planned a memorial service for Saturday afternoon at the Ballpark. Fans will be able to pass by Harry's casket, which will be behind home plate. Those in attendance will also get special momentos. But the best part? Admission AND PARKING are free.

By the way, the Nationals were wearing an alternate uni tonight with with a stars and stripes logo on the shirts and hats. Gimicky (and I think I've already explained that I hate gimicky uniforms).

And, did you watch tonight's game? Or, have you seen a game televised from Nationals Park? Why is one of the main camera angles on the roof? Why isn't there an angle from press box level? That camera angle is WAY too high.

  1. The Indians are wearing a sleeve patch to honor former pitcher and broadcaster Herb Score. It's the number 27 with a microphone between the numbers.

  2. I hate those uniforms, along with pretty much anything else associated with the Nationals.

  3. The Phillies have put Harry's signature along the baselines, and there's a sign in left field with his initials and a microphone.

Again, the Phils have done a TREMENDOUS job honoring Harry. I'm just disappointed with their effort on the uniform - which is what most people (especially those out of town) are going to see.
